Glossybox UK August : Review

I know, I know it's nearly September
(How did that even happen)
However as usual I am extremely late at jumping on the bandwagon
Not only did I only get my August Glossybox this morning
but this is my first ever beauty box subscription

I had thought about signing up for boxes before
and I had actually signed up for the Feel Unique one just before they stopped making them!
I love watching my favourite Youtube gurus opening their beauty boxes
and finally decided that I wanted in on the action

Then came the big desicion!
which box should I sign up for?
There are now quite a few to choose from
Beauteco Box - Is a fairly new box that only launched in May and as I hadn't heard to much about it yet I was a little bit wary
Birchbox - Is the American brand that took over from Joliebox UK, I always watch EleventhGorgeous' Birchbox Vs Ipsy videos on Youtube and I'm never overly impressed with the Birchbox, I always absolutely love the Ipsy Bags but unfortunately they aren't available in the UK
Glossybox - Is a tried and trusted brand, I have watched plenty of unboxings and read countless reviews and have always been pleasantly surprised with the contents. I decided that Glossybox was the best fit for me.

So I signed up online for £10 a month plus postage
It came really quickly
(2 days)
which I was impressed with

I was so excited when the postman came this morning
It was almost like getting a birthday present.
I know some people would rather pick and choose what goes in their box
but I really love the element of surprise
and would rather not know until it arrives at my doorstep

Now onto the box!
I really loved the packaging
the box is really sturdy and I will definitely be using it for storage
the contents are wrapped in pretty tissue paper and a nice ribbon
which just makes it seem really luxurious

This months box has a 'Highflyer' theme
all of the items are chosen from different countries around the world
and are under 100ml so you can take them inflight

This little leaflet includes an interview with the newly appointed CEO of Glossybox UK
as well as some information on each of the products included in the box

Oceane (Brazil)
Makeup remover pen
This is a nifty little pen for correcting any mistakes you make whilst applying your makeup
it also comes with 3 refill nibs.
I really like the concept of this as I ALWAYS sneeze after putting my mascara on!
(does this happen to anyone else?)
So I really hope this lives up to my expectations

Purity (USA)
Cleanser
I recognised this brand as soon as I opened my box
I love trying new skincare so I'm excited to try this
It came in a 30ml bottle which isn't bad
If I like it I will definitely think about repurchasing as a £5 off voucher is included
for use in Debenhams

Emite Make Up (Sweden)
Eyelash Curlers
I was really excited to see these in my box as I actually really needed a new pair
My No.7 ones are a hot mess! As I have had them forever
They also come with 3 extra pads which is really good.
Apparently these retail for around £20 which I am really impressed with as the whole box only costs £10!

Jelly Pong Pong (UK)
2 in 1 Eyeliner & Shadow
Another brand I recognise
Eyeshadow pencils are EVERYWHERE right now!
I actually bought a few NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils online which I really like
So I am really excited to try this.
I love the colour I received and think it will go so well with my MAC Cranberry eyeshadow

 Juicy Couture (USA)
Viva La Juicy Noir Perfume
I love trying out new perfumes
Although I do tend to wait until Christmas and my Birthday to get new ones
Samples like this are great to pop in your handbag for a night out
and this one smells amazing!

So I know this months Glossybox hasn't had rave reviews from other bloggers but I'm really happy with what I received in my box.
I think 3 full size products for £10 is pretty good going and it will be good to try the samples!
I can't wait till Septembers box already!
What did you think of this months box?
Do you think I made the right decision going with Glossybox?

OOTD Summer Wedding

Yesterday I spent a wonderful day at my cousin's wedding
Last week I done a FOTD post with the makeup I was wearing
which you can see here
So today I thought I would show you my outfit

Dress (belt included) - Dorothy Perkins
Shoes - Koi Couture
Watch - Michael Kors
Earrings - Avon
Bag - New Look
Fascinator - Posh n Pretty

Craig's Suit & Tie is from Next
and his shirt is from Burtons

I fell in love with this dress as soon as I saw it
I thought it would be perfect for a summer wedding
and it was really comfortable!
Weddings can be such long days so it really is important to wear something that you will feel comfortable in all day and night.

I love hats & fascinators and a wedding is one of the rare opportunities I get to wear them
However I had an absolute nightmare trying to find one that went with my outfit
but after a bit of rooting around online I came across an amazing website

You can basically pick whichever colours you need to match your outfit
They have a massive range to choose from
I chose Coral & Nude

You then choose the style you want
I opted for demure as I didn't want anything to over the top
but there are some much more extravagant options if that's what appeals to you.

Finally you pick any finishings that you want
I chose some little pearl detailing
and then you choose your fixing
You can have headbands, combs or clips

This custom made fascinator only cost me £12.50
(plus p&p)
It arrived really quickly and the customer service was brilliant
If you need a piece at short notice they really try to get it done for you ASAP
I would definitely recommend ordering from here if you have a wedding coming up

I'll leave you with a few pics I took
from the lovely day!

YSL Rouge Pur Couture - Vernis A Levres #31

Hello beauty lovers :)

So apparently I'm going coral crazy at the moment!
I absolutely love this colour for Summer and I'm always on the hunt for summery products
This little beaut is becoming a firm favourite in my makeup bag

So the whole lip stain trend isn't really a band wagon I have boarded so far
I find them a little intimidating
I don't like the thought of a shade being stuck to my lips all day
That being said, I figured it would be nice not to have to reapply all day err day!

This offering from YSL seems a little less scary to me as it is a gloss as well as a stain
I always think that stains seem quite drying
but this is the total opposite it leaves your lips glossy looking for hours

I have shade 31
Corail Alla Prima
I love this colour
it reminds me of watermelon
and is perfect for this time of year

As ever YSL do not dissapoint with their packaging
Everything looks so luxurious!
and nothing says luxury like gold does

The applicator is thick with a pointed end
It distributes just the right amount of product
and a little goes a long way

What I really love about this product is how buildable the colour is
One quick sweep and your left with a beautiful light coral lip
Apply some more product and you are left with a gorgeous vibrant colour

The only thing I don't like about this product?
I now want every shade!!
Unfortunately my bank balance will not allow that
but I definitely recommend treating yourself to one of these beauties on payday

FOTD - Summer Coral Makeup

Hi Guys :)
Sorry for the lack of posts recently but I've been really unwell and have been in hospital
Booo :(
I'm still not feeling great but I have my cousins wedding on Sunday and I have a gorgeous coral and nude outfit to wear so I thought I would try out a nice summery coral makeup look and share it with you!

All day weddings can be quite difficult as you want to look natural enough for daytime
but still look dressed up for the evening reception
I always make sure I take a big enough bag to carry my makeup in for touch ups throughout the day

The most important thing about wedding makeup is that it has to last a LONG time
So a good primer and setting powders are essential to keep you looking fresh all day and night

Face Base
Bare Minerals - Prime Time
Rimmell Wake Me Up Foundation - Soft Beige
Soap & Glory Kick Ass Concealer
MUA Matte Perfect Loose Powder

Contour/Highlight
Nars Laguna Bronzer
17 Metallic Cream Highlight
MUA Undress Your Skin Shimmer Highlighter

Blush
Fashionista - Amber Glow

Eyes
Benefit Big Beautiful Eyes
(Brown shadow used for eyebrows)
Lid Colour - NYX coral shade from Every Color Imaginable Pallete
Inner Corner - No 7 Baked Eyeshadow
& Pixi Glow Fairy Dust
Maybelline The Colossal Volume Express Mascara

Lips
NYC - Peach Fizz Lipstick
Benefit Sugarbomb Lipgloss

I will almost definitely add a pair of Eyelure falsies for the evening reception
as my eyes feel naked without them!

I think this is a really nice summery look for any occasion
I will do an OOTD post with my full outfit including my beautiful fascinator on Monday!

I really can't decide what to do with my hair though!
Any suggestions?

Ciao Jen

T in the Park 2013 - Festival OOTD

Hello lovelies!
So I am currently writing this from my bed where I have been lying all day trying to recover from what was an absolutely amazing day yesterday at T in the Park.

I thought I would share my experience with you
and show you some of the outfits that my friends and I were wearing!

We all have quite different styles so hopefully you can take some inspiration for your own festival looks!

Now I am speaking from experience when I say that usually at TITP we are up to our eyeballs in mud
So it was very strange that the sun was shining for us!
I still wasn't brave enough to go without wellies though!

Dress - Blonde & Blonde @ BANK
Wellies & Socks - Primark
Bracelets - Internacionale
Earrings & Sunglasses - Primark
Flower Hair Clips - New Look

The nice weather held up all day
and unusually for T there was no mud *yeaah*
so about half way through the day I changed into my pink sneaks and ditched the wellies

Now for my lovely friends outfits
 (Left to Right)

Kirsty wears:
Skull Dress - H&M
Belt - Aqua by Aqua
Black Flatforms (Unseen) - Primark

Erin wears:
Lime green dress - Topshop
Flower headband - Topshop
White Air Force Ones - Nike

Jen wears:
Playsuit - River Island
Headband - Accessorize
White trainers - Primark

Here's a few more snaps from our day

*Getting creative with some neon facepaint from Ebay*
*Two Door Cinema Club*

We had such an amazing day!
I will definitely be back next year
My two favourite acts were The Killers who were absolutely outstanding
Brandon Flowers is so gorgeous <3
and Labrinth who had The King Tuts Tent jumping!

One of my favourite bloggers Kayleigh from Couture Girl was there and I had my eyes peeled for her all day but didn't see her :(

Have you been to any festivals this year?
Or are you heading to any soon?

The Lazy Girls Guide To: Washing and Drying Your Clip In Hair Extensions!

I am still on my never ending quest to grow my own short, thin hair
So when I feel like adding some length and volume clip in extensions are the perfect solution

I've been using them on and off for years
and although you don't need to wash them often
It is one of these tasks that us poor girls have to do that is essentially a pain in the ass.

However, I think I have finally mastered a quick and easy method of washing and drying them
Hopefully you will pick up a few tips!
So here we go The Lazy Girls Guide to Washing and Drying your clip ins

Before we start it's important to know what kind of extensions you have
Not all extensions are suitable for washing or can be damaged easily with heat
Most synthetic extensions will frazzle as soon as heat is applied so please make sure you know before you start that they are human hair or at least part human hair and are suitable for washing and styling!
So now that you know your hair is fine to wash
You are ready to go!
I've found that this little trick seriously makes life sooo much easier when it comes to washing your extensions
Instead of washing each weft individually,
wrap your extensions together and secure with a hair tie.

Now you are left with a long ponytail
It takes much less time and effort to wash them like this
and they are actually far less likely to get damaged as they are less fragile when they are all together
rather than in individual strips.

Now rinse the hair in warm water
and pick whatever shampoo you like

I went for Aussie Take The Heat Shampoo
always try and massage the shampoo in from the top of the hair downward
if you start from the bottom and work your way up the hair will knot
Make sure you rinse out all the shampoo thoroughly

You need to look after your extensions as you would your own hair
So I always like to put a conditioning treatment in mine

This is the lazy girls guide though
So a 3 minute treat will do!
I went for the Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Luscious Long Deep Treatment
When the 3 minutes is up rinse all the conditioner out of the hair

To keep your extensions looking as good as you can for as long as you can
The best way to dry them is to let them dry naturally
Give them a quick towel dry, remember to be really gentle

Now I find that hanging the hair speeds up the drying process
you can hang them over a clothes horse or a radiator
but I have came up with something else

Now I know this might seem a little bit strange
and maybe avoid doing it if you are expecting guests
(because they will almost definitely think you are a weirdo)
but if you get a trouser hanger and put the wefts through the middle
it is a really good way to let your extensions air dry

You might need more than one hanger depending how many wefts you have
just hang them on a door handle and leave until dry

One thing to remember
most human hair extensions will dry with a wave in them
personally I like mine to be straight when I first wash them

Once my extensions are around 80% dry
I like to give them a quick blow dry to give them a sleek, finished look

Now unless you are a magician or have three hands
you will find it extremely awkward and difficult to blow dry them properly
as you really need one hand to hold the weft, one to hold a brush, and one to hold the hair dryer

I've got a tool that makes this process loads easier

The Babyliss Big Hair is a rotating brush that blows out hot air
using this means you are able to blowdry and brush the hair with one hand
leaving your other hand free to hold the weft

As you would with your own hair you should always apply a heat protectant to the hair
before using a hot styling tool

I used this one by TRESemme

and that ladies is pretty much it!
I hope you picked up a few tips along the way
I love the feeling of my extensions when they are just washed

Just make sure you don't do it too often
as over washing and styling can cause breaking and fall out!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend lovelies

My Worldwide Wardrobe

Last summer I entered a competition run by Travelsupermarket
called Beauty and the Beach, It was the first competition I had ever entered on my blog and had so much fun doing it that when they approached me about it this year I couldn't say no.
Especially when I found out that the judges were some of my favourite bloggers!

I decided to go with the other option this year which is a new competition called
My Worldwide Wardrobe
The idea is, you have to create a look for specific destinations and activities all over the globe,
using a budget of £200. I must say I am a bit of a bargain hunter so the budget wasn't a problem for me.

The winner of the competition wins £200 to buy their chosen outfit AND a holiday to that destination
So I have got everything crossed as I would love to go on holiday this year.

"To Dye For" Body
 Staysick - £30

Vintage Levi 501's -
Ebay - £18.95

Nike Blazer Lo Vintage
Size? - £40

Bracelet Stack
New Look  - £6.99

Total - £95.94

First up is the party island Ibiza! This is one of my favourite places in the world, it is such an eclectic mix of people and fashion. When I say anything goes, I mean it! Clubbing in Ibiza is your chance to be as loud and daring as you want with your outfit, which is why I picked this AMAZING bodysuit by Staysick. I'm all for supporting local designers, and this range was actually designed by a girl I know. You could totally get away with wearing it on it's own in an Ibiza nightclub, but I'm not quite that daring so I would pair it with a pair of customised vintage Levi shorts.
Now I wouldn't normally wear trainers clubbing in the UK but believe me, turn up to a club in Ibiza wearing heels and be prepared to feel very uncomfortable. These clubs are open till 6am! you don't want to go back to your hotel early because you made the wrong footwear choice! These Nike Blazers will help you to dance all night - pain free.
Finish the look of with some stacked neon bracelets and your ready to hit the clubs!

Cocktails in the city that never sleeps is definitely something that is on my bucket list.
If I want to pretend to be a New York fashionista I need a powerhouse outfit!
I'm really loving the masculine looks that are out just now.
This is a tailored look with a feminine edge. The cigarette style trousers would really flatter my long legs and the signature Zara sandal would give the look an elegant feel.
What better way to look fabulous on a budget than wearing a designer replica vest. This is an absolute steal at £10
Wear it under a this gorgeous ROMWE fitted blazer and no-one will know you haven't paid top dollar for it.
Finish the look off with a pop of colour in the form of this statement necklace from New look and of course no New York outfit would be complete without a Cosmo in hand

Paris - The most romantic city in the world. It is somewhere I have never visited but if I did, there are so many things I would love to see! which is why I have went for both a stylish and comfortable outfit.
This gorgeous dress from Jaeger (boutique) screams Paris! OK, horizontal stripes in France might be a little cliche but who the hell cares. If I'm going to Paris I'm dressing as Parisian as possible.
I love this dropped waist style.
If you are wandering the streets of the city all day you are going to want comfortable shoes. These gorgeous leather shoes from OFFICE are just that, and they are on sale right now so are an absolute bargain.
They would also go perfectly with this gorgeous over the shoulder satchel, which is the perfect size to store your camera in, to ensure you don't miss the opportunity to snap the beautiful sights.
A pair of cat eye sunglasses will keep you looking cool on a beautiful French summers day
and a slick of RiRi Woo on your lips will brighten up the whole outfit!

Thailand is the place to be at New Year, and you can't visit this beautiful country without going to a full moon party! These parties are infamous and literally thousands of people head to the beach to celebrate!
Beachwear is a must but you want to stand out from the crowd. This Topshop bikini is the way to get noticed and the turqouise Havaianas match it perfectly!
Chances are it's going to be a late night so while your partying by the bonfire you are going to want a cover up.
Throw this Tye Dye cover up over your bikini for a perfect dressy yet casual beach look.
Neon is everywhere at a full moon party and these pink sunglasses are the perfect accessory, now all you need to finish off the look is to let one of your friends slap some neon face paint all over you, and get ready to party!

I had so much fun styling these outfits! If you want to have a go yourself you can enter the competition here
