Scottish Blogger Meetup

Last night was a very exciting night
as it was my first ever experience of a blogger meetup!

There were plenty of times over the past week when I seriously considered not going
I already suffer from really bad anxiety and the thought of meeting up with a bunch of complete strangers was absolutely terrifying!
but I can honestly say I am SO glad I went
I met the most lovely people and at the end of the day we were all in the same boat.
I'm sure everyone was nervous, but everyone was so friendly and welcoming!

The meetup was organised by the lovely Karris
We met in a bar in Bath Street in Glasgow called KUTA
It's a really nice new bar and the drink was really cheap!
£1.50 for a Vodka and mixer = Dangerous! lol

Karris even organised a raffle for us
where the prizes were some of her favourite beauty products!
such a lovely idea and a really good icebreaker!

I felt under quite a lot of pressure to get ready for last night as I knew I would be meeting up with lots of gorgeous ladies so I wanted to look my best!
I ordered a new top to wear which thankfully arrived right at the last minute!

Unfortunately I was running late (as always) So I didn't have time to take any outfit pics before I went
but I did take some when I got home

Black Studded Peplum Top - www.misspap.co.uk
Disco Pant Dupes - Glamorous  - Stons Glasgow

*Found this one on my camera this morning, I'd deffo had one too many Vodkas!*

I actually couldn't take my camera to the meetup as my bag was tiny and I had to choose between my camera or a hairbrush, and the hairbrush won!! lol
So here are a few photos from Karris which you can find on her facebook page
I hope she doesn't mind me using them!

Such an amazing night
and if any of you have the opportunity to go to a meetup
don't be scared just go for it! You won;t regret it!

Now I've got to go and read all the lovely new blogs that I found from last night!

Ciao

MUA Lipstick

I've always been more of a lipgloss than a lipstick girl
but recently I have been converted!
and I am now on the hunt for my perfect lipstick!

So on Monday I picked up my first ever MUA lipstick

I got it in shade 4
and yesterday I got the chance to try it out for the first time

I met my friend in town and we had lunch and some cocktails
and I've got to say that this lovely lippy lasted really well!
it's so moisturising
and it seriously smells amazing! I wanted to eat it!

I love the pink shade
it gives you a lovely pop of colour
without being to in your face!

I'm really impressed with this product and I can't wait to buy some more shades!

This lipstick shade is up for grabs in my giveaway! click here to enter!

Has anyone else tried MUA lipsticks?
What do you think of them?

Jen <3 Mwah! x

Ps. I have been been trying to work on my photography skills recently and i'm actually really happy with the way these turned out, I know they are basic but i'm new to this! lol

Elizabeth Arden - Lipstick Swatches

Now the only time I ever seem to hear about Elizabeth Arden is when people are talking about 8 hour cream
but for those of you who may think that is all this brand offers
here is a little post to share my Elizabeth Arden lipstick collection with you

Elizabeth Arden is a brand I have always used
I used the Flawless Finish Foundation for years and swore by it
but it is very very thick! So I tend to steer clear of it just now, especially as I'm trying to sort out my skin!

It is my mums absolute favourite brand
(which is probably why I used it in the first place)

Just to let you know sometimes the packaging changes depending on promotions etc.
So if you look one of these colours up and the packaging is different that is why.

I actually have more than this but as my make-up collection is a little bit *ahem* untidy at the moment I cant find them, but when I do I'll add them to this post

Elizabeth Arden
Exceptional Lipstick
17 - Breathless

Elizabeth Arden
Exceptional Lipstick
14 - Nuance

Elizabeth Arden
Exceptional Lipstick

Elizabeth Arden

Elizabeth Arden

Elizabeth Arden
Ceramide Plump Perfect Lipstick
07- Perfect Coral

Elizabeth Arden
Ceramide Plum Perfect Lipstick
23 - Perfect Scarlet

I hope this post gives you more of an idea of the range of colours they offer.
They are really good quality lipsticks, long lasting and moisturising which are the two main factors I look for in a lipstick. They are all either 3.5g or 4g

Do any of you use Elizabeth Arden products?
what do you think of them?

TRIPOD + Mini Topshop Haul

Hello my little beauties!

I must warn you, you might have to get used to seeing a bit more of my ugly mug
because my tripod came :D WOOHOOO
its an absolute peach! it was only like £6 off e-bay so I am more than chuffed with it

The only problem is....
I SUCK AT POSING!!
If anyone has any tips for me so that I don't look like a complete moron please let me know!!

So whilst I'm practising my posing I may as well show you what I bought in Topshop yesterday!

Love this dress!
Its got little clips holding it together
(Very Liz Hurley)
and I think I'm being very brave getting my stomach out as it's my LEAST favourite area!
but I think this is actually quite flattering (hopefully!)

Dress - £20 reduced from £36

I was obviously in a LBD mood as I also picked up this little number

You can never have too many little black dresses right?
I just think this is really versatile and can easily be changed up with different shoes/accessories
I'm sure it will be making plenty of appearances throughout Autumn/Winter

Skater Dress - £26

I got one more little thing as well

This little top in frontless and backless so I'll have to wear a little vest under it
I'm not THAT brave!!
(or a skank haha)

I noticed that they had such a good jewellery sale on as well but I was in a rush and didn't have time to look properly!
Gutted!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend ladies
Like I said any tips for the outfit posing PLEASE let me know! lol

Ciao

Benefit...The Audition

Some of you might know that I had an interview the other day
for what I described as my 'Dream Job'
Turns out I was VERY wrong!
Don't get me wrong, some people would love a job like this
and my intention with this post is not to put people off working for Benefit it is merely to share my experience of the interview process.

Here Goes...

About three weeks ago I applied online for the position of Account Manager for Benefit in House Of Frasers in Glasgow.
Last week I received a phone call from someone from Benefit telling me they had received my application.
They then gave me a brief phone interview, asking pretty basic questions such as
What do you know about the brand?
If your best friend had to describe you in 3 words what would they be?
etc.

After passing the telephone interview I was invited to an 'Audition' in store the following week
I was told to wear all black and comfortable shoes

When I arrived at my audition it was only me and one other girl
We were taken by the area manager to a quiet corner at the back of the Benefit counter and given a summary of what our audition process would involve.

Basically we would learn about five products and how to demonstrate them on a customer's face
we would then spend the next few hours 'Traffic Stopping'
This involves going out onto the shop floor and approaching shoppers and trying to escort them back to the Benefit counter to show them your products.

The five products we were demonstrating throughout the day were:

It's Potent Eye Cream
A brightening eye cream to reduce dark circles

The Porefessional
PRO balm to minimise the appearance of pores

You Rebel
SPF 15 Tinted Moisturiser

High Beam
Luminescent complexion enhancer

Benetint
Rose tinted cheek and lip stain

I was quite relieved as I had used most of these products before and was fairly familiar with them.
We were given a demonstration of how to apply them to a customer, how to set up our station and how to use the products hygienically using cotton swabs.
We were told what information to give the customers about the products and also given some guidance about how to converse with them whilst applying their makeup.

Now I really enjoyed this whole part of the process, I liked learning about the products and the different ingredients they contain and how they work.
I also like the customer interaction.
However the next part of the process was the part that was not for me!

We were told to go out into the department store to 'Traffic Stop'
I have learnt from this process that traffic stopping is a MASSIVE part of working for Benefit
they seem to be the only cosmetic brand that work like this
and it obviously works for them as they are a very successful brand
however, it is not the easiest thing to do.

You know when you are walking through the town centre on a Saturday afternoon and there are those people with clipboards that chase you down the street trying to sell you stuff?!
Well that's how it felt traffic stopping, I was the guy with the dreadlocks and the clipboard and everybody was pretending they couldn't see me! lol
I lost count of the times I heard 'Sorry I'm late for a meeting'  or 'I don't have time I'm on my lunch break'

It gets pretty soul destroying after a while!
It was a Wednesday morning so the shop wasn't exactly busy, there were only so many people you could harass, but what Benefit want to see is bums on seats.
I managed to get three people back to the counter in an hour and I did make a few sales
but I found the whole process really uncomfortable, and I would say I am an outgoing and confident person
So hats off to anyone who does it for a living!!

After an hour of traffic stopping the area manager approached me and asked how I thought I was doing
I explained that I had made sales and got some people back to the counter but that the whole concept of traffic stopping wasn't really 'me'
He told me that a lot of people that go for auditions don't feel comfortable with that particular part of the process and that if it wasn't something I could see myself doing then I was welcome to leave.

I decided that leaving would be the best option for me, as it is definitely not something I could see myself doing on a daily basis.
The job description sounded more like a management role rather than a field based selling role which is what I seemed to be auditioning for, so I am slightly confused about that, but from what I gather, all Benefit employees go through the same audition process.

Like I said at the beginning of this post I am not trying to bad mouth Benefit or their employees in any way
I really just wanted to give you an account of my experience of the audition process
and hopefully some people will find it helpful if they are considering a job with Benefit.

At the end of the day I'm glad I went as it was an experience
and it certainly hasn't put me off working in the cosmetics industry
but Traffic Stopping is not for me!!

Has anyone else had a similar experience?
or totally disagree with me? lol

Potential Dream Job...HELP!

So today is a day of preparation
as tomorrow I have a big day ahead of me

I have an interview
(although for some reason they call it an audition)
with....Benefit!

The position I'm going for is Account Manager for Benefit in House of Fraser in Glasgow
So if any of you happen to be in the area please stop by and let me give you a free makeover!

I'm spending today swotting up on Benefit cosmetics
and coming up with a look for tomorrow which uses as many of their products as possible

Have any of my lovely readers worked for Benefit before
Or for any other cosmetics companies?

Any advice anyone could give me would be much appreciated
Thankyou Dolls xxx

Clean as a whistle!

Happy Monday lovelies!
Hope everyone had a good weekend
Mine was pretty quiet and relaxing!

So over the last few weeks I have been sticking to my new skin regime religiously!
(which is a first for me)
The first few days my skin actually got worse and I was ready to throw in the towel!
but...I persevered and it has paid off !

The spots have gone! WOOHOO!!
My skin is the clearest it's been in a long time!

I've been trying to reduce the load on the makeup front during the week as well
So as not to ruin all the hard work!

This is what I'm sporting on my face today

OK so it's maybe not MINIMAL to some lucky people that can get away with a bit of clear mascara
but for me this is minimal! lol

Face
Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer
Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation
Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Powder
Sleek Contour Kit
Benefit Hervana Blusher

Eyes
Benefit Big Beautiful Eyes Kit

Loreal False Lash Telescopic Mascara

Lips
MUA Love Hearts Collection Lip Balm - Sweet Kiss

Brushes
Real Techniques Stippling Brush
The Body Shop Powder Brush
Elizabeth Arden Blush Brush

As well as toning down my makeup, I have been trying not to style my hair using heat during the week
I have also been taking extra special care of it
Because of this it has FINALLY started to grow
and today is a big milestone for me...
I managed to get my hair into my first ballerina bun!!

Now I probably have a cheek to even call this a ballerina bun lol
but I'm so happy that I finally have enough hair to do it!

*Excuse the re-growth*

In other news, I have been looking to buy a tripod so I can finally take some outfit posts!!
So look out for them!

Lotsa Luv ]
