My MUA Lipstick Collection

So my MUA collection seems to have expanded without me really noticing
and I now have 6 gorgeous colours from the range!

MUA lipsticks for those of you that don't know
(HELLO WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN!!)
are available at Superdrug and are only £1
which is amazing because you can treat yourself to a few at a time
without feeling too bad about spending your hard earned pennies

There is something soooo satisfying about seeing lots of lipsticks of the same brand lined up like this
or is that just me...
Anyway here they are in all their glory <3

Some are more loved than others as you can see
but I really do love them all

*In order as seen in previous photos*

Obviously at a £1 a lippy
MUA couldn't afford to pay someone to come up with witty names for the colours

They all have great pigment
I prefer some shades to others as a few of them can be quite drying
Shade 4 is probably my favourite its a really glossy light pink and it's so moisturising!
Shade 14 was definitely a staple in my holiday makeup bag last year
while shade 2 has seen me through winter, and I have already purchased my backup

*Shade 1*

Have you tried any of the MUA Lipsticks?
What's your favourite shade?

Rimmell Colour Mousse 8hr

This is my first foray into the world of creamy eyeshadows since I was about 12 and used to have the little ones that looked like lipglosses from my mum's AVON!
but I decided I needed some in my life, preferably some MAC Paintpots
but until then I was going for a budget option
I was actually on my way to Superdrug to purchase some Maybelline Colour Tattoos
(post to follow)
and decided to pop into a new shop in my local shopping centre called Watt Brothers
They have loads of makeup at reduced prices, including Benefit, Max Factor and Rimmel
The downside being that most of the colours are ghastly, hence the discount in price I'm assuming!

I love purple though so when I seen this little beauty I had to pick it up

It is a completely different to the consistency to the Colour Tattoos
It is called a mousse but I don't really think it lives up to that description.
When I think of mousse Makeup I always think of Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse
but this eye colour is definitely more of a thick liquid than an air whipped mousse

I picked up the shade Galaxy
which is Soooo pigmented it's unreal!

*SWATCHED*

I'm really impressed with this product so far
and can't wait to try out some colourful looks with it
as one of my New Year's resolutions is to stop being so Neutral with my makeup!

I got this product for 99p!! which is AMAZING
If there isn't a Watt Brothers near you I'm pretty sure you can get these on Fragrance Direct
I take it they have been discontinued by Rimmel.

Has anyone tried these eyeshadows?

The Scottish Wedding Show

On Saturday I attended The Scottish Wedding Show
In the SECC (Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre)

I'm going to be a bridesmaid for my friend Cheryl next year
and we went to get some ideas for her big day!

I'm furious with myself for forgetting my camera
but I did have my trusty iphone
So I managed to get some snaps to share with you

As soon as I saw this sign I got excited!
The Beauty zone was full of hair stylists and makeup artists offering beauty treatments to all the brides to be.
I spotted products from MAC, NARS, Fake Bake & Dermalogica

You were given a £5 off voucher for beauty treatments along with your ticket to the show.
Unfortunately I didn't have time to use mine though!

Some of the most stunning things at the show were the cakes!
How perfect would this be for a couple that got engaged in Paris <3
The attention to detail in these were amazing!

We got to sample so many delicious cakes as well
My favourite was a gorgeous lemon and poppyseed cake YUMM!

I'm not big on traditional weddings and have never really pictured myself as a bride
but I actually found my perfect cake

If you read my 25 Random Facts About Me TAG
Then you will know that I have a swallow tattoo
I absolutely love them and when I seen this cake I fell in love
(I even sent a photo to Craig...Think it might have scared him slightly lol)

Probably the only fashion show I'll ever get front row at!
We actually went to the fashion show to get ideas for bridesmaid dresses because Cheryl already has her wedding dress, but for some reason there was none which was a bit disappointing
but it was worth going to just for the male models! lol
I got told off for taking photos during the show though so I had to put my phone away

This was a really fun car for a less traditional wedding
very patriotic!

The blushing bride and her favourite car!

Cheryl channelling Victoria Beckham

Sherbert Flying Saucer Tree!!
I was so tempted to just buy this for myself

We all had a great day at the show and definitely came away with some great ideas for the wedding!
Are any of you planning a wedding just now?
I'm not sure what kind of wedding I would like but it certainly got me thinking

OOTN - Black&Gold

Top - Topshop
Skirt - Internacionale
Belt - ASOS
Shoes - River Island
Watch - Michael Kors
Necklace - H&M

Another weekend, another obligatory hand on the hip outfit post!

I really liked how my makeup turned out last night
I done my gorgeous friend Cheryl's hair and makeup as well!
She wasn't too keen on the eyebrows but I'm a sucker for dark eyebrows and light hair.
Think it took her a while to get used to it!
but she seemed to quite enjoy having her own personal hair and makeup artist on hand for the night lol

Hope you have all had a fab weekend!

A Look Inside My Hair Kit - The Tools

So as you may be aware if you follow me on twitter
@thebigburdblog
I have recently started doing a 'hair up' course at college
It's an evening course and I don't get a qualification at the end of it
but hair styling is always something I have been really interested in
and I seem to be quite good at it

If you missed my post about some of the styles I've been trying out then you can see it HERE

I have been doing my friends and families hair for events for quite a while now
So I thought that this course would be a good way to perfect my skills

Since I've become more confident in my skills I decided to share a few photos of my styles on my Facebook page and they have got a really great response.
Since then I've been asked to do peoples hair for lots of different events such as
dancing displays, proms and weddings

I decided that If I'm going to really get serious about this I had to invest in a hair styling kit!

So here is a look inside my little kit so far
I'm going to split this post into two parts
 The Tools & The Products
So here is Part 1

The Tools

Electrical

GHD's
RRP: £99
I have always been a big fan of these straighteners, They reach 220 degrees so are perfect for styling even the most stubborn hair! (but ALWAYS use a heat protectant!!!) They are really versatile and can be used to straighten and curl hair. I opted for the slimmer version as they are suited to most hair lengths. The thicker version of this styler doesn't work very well on shorter hair lengths.

Mark Hill Raw Hairdryer
RRP: £59.99
(The zebra print version is on offer in Boots right now for £29.99)
Basically I picked this purely for the AMAZING animal print!
but it really is a great hairdryer, it's really powerful which makes for quick drying time.
It has 3 heat settings and a cool button for setting your style in place.
It also comes with 3 different attachments depending on the look you want to create.

Babyliss PRO Conical Wand (16-9mm)
£26 from Sallys (excl, VAT)
I had never used a wand before buying this and after testing it out I don't think I could go back to a normal tong. The results achieved from this are amazing!
It has 25 heat settings and a salon length wire which is brilliant.
I opted for the really slim version but they are available in a variety of sizes so I think I'll be investing in a few more!

Essentials

Sectioning Clips
Sallys -£1.79 (excl VAT)
Pretty self explanatory. These are a must when putting hair up

Grip and Pin Session Kit
Sallys - £6.99 (excl VAT)
This is a great little set which includes black brunette and blonde kirby grips and pins which is really handy especially if you are doing hair for a group of people with all different hair colours

Donuts
Primark - Large £1.50
Small £1
Buns are MASSIVE right now
nearly every hair up that I have done recently has been a bun of some sort.
and these little beauties give that extra padding to make them look amazing!
You can buy these in loads of shops but there is no point spending a lot of money on them because they all do the same thing! and these ones from Primark are a bargain.

Brushes

Head Jog Tail Comb
Sallys - £1.79 (excl VAT)

Teasing Comb
Pauls Hair World - £2.99

Prostylista Paddle Brush
TK MAXX - £6.99

So that's the start of my little kit
I still have a long way to go to get all the things that I need but it will take time to pick all these things up along the way.
Can you think of anything else I might need?

Keep your eyes peeled for part two The Products!
