DIY: Red Ombre Hair

My hair has now been the same colour for about 4 years
Due to the fact that I dyed it from blonde to really dark brown and instantly regretted it
and it took me about 2 years and a LOT of time and money to get it back to being the way it is now!

As much as I love being a blondey
(we totally do have more fun)
I do sometimes get bored of just having the same hair all the time!
Especially because it's so short and there isn't much I can do with it!

So I decided I would try something a little different
and go for Ombre hair

Now I didn't actually have the balls to dye my hair
and although I have lusted after some red streaks since Christina Aguilera's Come On Over video
about 15 years go!
It's not very practical for day to day life
and I'm pretty sure my boss wouldn't appreciate me turning up to work looking like Ronald McDonald
So I used the less permanent option of hair mascara

I actually really liked the way this turned out!
It was nice to have a wee change
and it washed out really easily the next day

What do you guys think?

Does anyone have any tips for changing up my hair without doing anything too drastic/permanent?

  2. aw, it looks really lovely on you!
if you use pastel colours, because your hair is so light, it will be totally faded out within a week.
you mix a tiny splodge of semi permanent dye (star gazer, manic pani etc.) with a whole lot of conditioner, leave it on your hair for like ten minutes and wash it out, and that's about it.
you really do suit your little red bits though!
    hope you're well,
    laura xx

  3. I would never have thought of dip-dying short hair but I absolutely LOVE it! The colour looks amazing against your blonde hair too, major hair envy at the minute. My hair's short too and I absolutely love the Ombre look but always think I could never ever have it with my hair being short. Really really suits you :)) Lilac or a pastel colour would look amazing against your blonde hair I think!

  8. You could also try hair chalk [which is just plain coloured chalk I think, you may want to google it to make sure] if you fancy a change. Love the dip dye look of the mascara as well :) Really suits you! xx

  11. This looks really cool! I have never dyed my hair as I am always afraid I won't be able to get the colour back out of it, but this looks like a fun alternative.
